We found ourselves a lovely room on the insel (Island) and walked every part of it. We settled into a cosy pub for our last evening in beautiful ...

Unfortunately, I somehow dialed the wrong number and was talking to a person working at a hostel in Cologne, 250 miles away. Couldn't believe how stupid this person was, tried explaining that I was standing outside the front door the entire time, couldn't understand why they couldn't let me in. After 3 calls and 20 minutes of frustration, I realized ...

... t used extensively, as Dachau wasn't one of the main death camps). I usually stay pretty stoic in most situations like this but Dachau was tough. Being there, reading the stories, seeing footage of the camp, observing the conditions that the camp inhabitants suffered under; it was rough. Reading about it in history textbooks is one thing; going to a concentration camp in person is a completely different, powerful, somber experience.
