Yearning for something sweet after we left the restaurant we went for something familiar: chai tea lattes and a chocolate chip cookie at starbucks (again very expensive but hey it's my birthday). It's a clean start from which I can make my way anywhere me feet will take me. I have a decent budget to cover the next 6-8 months and 2-3 fixed checkpoints on the map: an orphanage in Ipoh, Malaysia, and a university ...

Day 19 Day 2 of Oktoberfest. Woke up freezing, and wet. It had rained all night long and wasn't looking like it was going to let up anytime soon. I wanted to have a shower to warm me up, but to shower, you had to earn a shower token. I was definitely not willing to do what was needed to earn a shower token. I bundled up for a cold wet day and made my way to the bus stop. I met a whole group of exchange students who ...
