It is lovely to see the way the Bilbao city planners are transformimg the town on from its industrial past into a city showcasing modern art. The town has many interesting sculptures dotted around, and of course the Guggenheim is the jewel in the crown. Interestingly a conversation with a neighbour in the “aire” at Bilbao said the museum was more interesting on the outside than inside, so ...

Here eating is a way of life. There are restaurants and cafes everywhere. It makes you wonder how that many can survive. Businesses open from 10-12. Lunch goes from 12 - 2 and then the shops reopen and go from 4 - 10pm. Hard to get used to. They start dinner about 9pm even the kids about 1-3.

We realise we are not going to make it further west and will have to pass on Ferrol and Portugal for another year. We decide to drive towards the French border on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. We go via some stunning scenery not least the Piedrasluengas viewpoint. A long drive and struggling to find a good campsite. We end ...

... not for me! I do a picturesque gentle undulating ride through the Valle De Camelona. Very impressed by Adrian's effort, it's so hot he has to ask some Spanish people for more agua, the children of the family give him high fives, I think they must have been impressed too. My Vuelta hero! Peaceful evening and more delicious food at the La Isla Campsite Bar by the River ...
