... our beloved Vinho Verde (Euro 1.39 a bottle) Mmmmm.... It was off to bed, to awake to another wet day. Discussions over breakfast (boiled eggs perfectly done if you please) (Lymºs writing this by the way....Iºm just typing...) led to us both deciding it was time to break camp and head to the Algarve with all haste, we were beginning to believe that the sun was an urban myth...
... other than from the coach that took us on our tour. As we left Vigo heading north along a motorway, I realized how green everywhere was compared to when we went to Rojales and the South East of Spain last year. It reminded us both of the Lake District in Cumbria.
Vigo, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands mickinwhitbyToday I´m headed for Vigo on the Northwest coast. Madrid has been good although tiring. It rained yesterday so I spent the afternoon at the Prado Museum. After that I walked forever, took a few pictures and ate some ice cream. If you´re ever in Madrid I recomend the Museo del Jamon, ham and cheese sandwich + beer = 2euros.
Vigo, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands bdkruger... they might otherwise have. One of the solutions to this problem is a rotating schedule where the crew lives aboard for a nine week period and then return home for four weeks. A crew rotations system is not common on luxury yachts, but frequently used in the merchant marines. From what I’ve heard, the typical work schedule on a Merchant Vessel is working four weeks, then home for four weeks. Then, while they are at work, they will ...
Vigo, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourney... We also had lunch at a very nice fishing village. It is not a surprise that seafood is popular… some of the local favorites are mussels and octopus. …and of course they make a lot of wine, and we sampled some that was delicious. The end of our day was spent exploring Vigo’s old gothic quarter.
Vigo, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands kim_williams... we were spoilt for choice. We chose Calem, a brand not much known in Britain, but one of the oldest, and Sandemans, one of the best known. Chalk and cheese in their presentation, but basically the same principal. Sandemans was a bit gimmicky, with the guides dressed up in the Sandeman outfit (a Spanish Sombrero and a Portuguese students' black cape). I was particularly looking forward to being shown round by an ...
Caminha, Northern Portugal, Portugal oldagetravellerI think we have finally found what we came for, today we are facing the Atlantic surrounded by a forested cove without a cloud in the sky. There are wild roaming horses, cycle and walking paths that link up secluded beaches and a place to free camp including a fresh water source from the hills. You couldn't really ask for much more its perfect for the type of trip we are on. The journey through northern Spain has certainly been varied, since we last wrote we ...
Bueu, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands piholland... is where people from Spain travel to buy towels (not sure why but they did have lots of towels for sale) and Em & Eric did get a set just to follow the tradition. Tui was a much nicer place and the cathedral was lovely. On the way home we stopped in Baiona an old port city with a cool old fort. We took the walk along the top of the walls (a 3 km walk).

Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands amidlifecrisisFriday we attempting to take it easy because my father and I both had early flights (like 6:45 am departure type. Went shopping in the downtown area to some street shops for some gifts. Pretty cool area...they were "shucking" (spelling?) oysters for you to buy and eat right there (and good stuff not some random oyster)...was impressed with the old streets, dining outside, small shops all ...
