... By the way, Beryl D. Beare said shopping was boring, so she stayed home and slept. We had no time for photos today, so she had no opportunity to put her little head in the line of my camera! Back to the shopping expedition. I found what I needed at C&A. Jocks and t- shirts around Target prices, but much nicer, softer fabric. I found the staff helpful and patient with using only English. It has been rebuilt a few times like so many things in Berlin. We ended the tour by going by a ...

... The Gestapo (secret police) manned a walled section containing high profile prisoners tortured on a daily basis. A medical section for the ill was really a chance to experiment different drugs and operations. Lastly there was a section where men were excited by being shot or put into a gas chamber. We were given a detailed history about the beginning, rise and fall of the camp. The story of how long it took for all the persecuted groups to be acknowledged was ...

... or hurt by the Nazis and the war. It was simple, haunting and touching. Also throughout Berlin you find crosses memorializing the people who died attempting to escape and a lovely park area to remember the suffering of the Roma people. Givers me hope! After the heavy history lesson we made our way to the Spree river to take a quick cruise. The weather was beautiful and the beer was cold. Perfect! One of the things that struck me was the similarity between the Champs Eyles in ...
