Freising, Bavaria, Germany marinaalekseeva... Russia and SE Asia will surely provide. We're learning so much as we go along, a lot due to mistakes we make on the way. Having to work again is inevitable (unless we win the lottery...or one of YOU does and wishes to finance us!) and something we are obviously not looking forward to, to say it politely. But such is life and we try to keep that thought pushed as far back as possible in our minds. We do miss home and family and friends at times, but we know it will always be there.
Landshut, Germany vagabonderz... propaganda is spray-painted everywhere, and on city name posts - which include both the French and Corsican name - the French alternate is blacked out. In August, the heat is sweltering. Movement, for any level of comfort, is restricted to early morning and late evening hours, lest you twitch a muscle and break out in a profuse sweat. After arriving in the port city of Bastia on August 10, we immediately found a campground near a beach on the east coast. On our first morning, we ...
Landshut, Germany vagabonderz... one game of mini-golf, one fixed tooth, two haircuts, one big mexican dinner, lots of sausages, and several German beers later we are ready for more. Next up, among other sights, are the German and Austrian Alps, before we head into Italy to catch a ferry to Corsica for eighteen days. This was a much needed break and our batteries are recharged. We're looking forward to tomorrow morning when we start Freda up and hit the open road again!
Landshut, Germany vagabonderz... of 'Honey, I Shrunk the Audience', which was actually pretty funny and starred Rick Moranis and Eric Idle (of Monty Python fame). The night ended with the light parade and a fireworks show. The parking for campers was pricey - twenty euros - but they allow you to sleep in the lot, so it was nice not to have to drive anywhere after. There are even bathrooms with showers, which are actually nicer than many of the campgrounds we've been to. So we will spend a few days here recuperating ...
Landshut, Germany vagabonderzWell, we've now been in Landshut at Yvonne's sister's place (Babette) for almost a week now, and it looks like we won't be leaving for Spain til Thursday or Friday (or even Saturday?!). There have been quite a few things to take care of, including getting our campervan in good working order, before we head out. Yvonne tried to change her last name to mine in her passport and got a good taste of German beauracracy. Seems our certified translated marriage ...
Landshut, Germany vagabonderz... able to see. A very nice lady next to me offered me a rain cap, so I managed to stay relatively dry. About halfway through the parade, the rain let up. A couple of policemen and workers from the "Technisches Hilfswerk" decided they were supposed to stand in front of our grandstand instead of 5 feet over in front of the non-paying onlookers, so that interfered a bit with my taking pictures. Other than that, though, the parade was enjoyable. Commoners, guards, knights, nobility ...
Landshut, Germany harrellrlOur last day in Freising. Rick went to work and I took the S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof. I found where the city a bus tour began and after dashing back to the train station to get change, I bought a ticket. Included in the tour was a visit to the Olympic Stadium and the tower ...
