... that Alice was already there. I'm not sure who got the bigger fright, him turning on the light to find Alice in bed or Alice waking up to some creepy man. He left awkwardly and we had a bit of a laugh. We didn't get there until 12.30am and after scaring the **** out of Alice we had a few wines and didn't end up getting to bed till very late.

... meandered our way into the old town stopping after sunset to soak up the atmosphere of the local Christmas market. There is something just so magical about Christmas markets, the bright lights, the smell of gluhwein and people peddling their wares and calling out to the buyers that wins me over every time.
For dinner we made our way to a small restaurant close to our hotel, it was a family owned microbrewery that ...
... we decide to go find some food. They had these carts where they sell authentic Czech food, so I decided I wanted to get a little by of the potatoes, cabbage, and ham to tie me over until we find food. Well the lady fills this bowl with potatoes and you pay by the kg. The total was about $17 for a bowl of potatoes, so I ask for a smaller portion and she wasn't having it. Then to top it off, they were so gross and there were lots of places ...
... minimal tourists. We began our evening at the White Whale, a quaint pub near downtown, but not close enough to be touristy or expensive. I still haven't found an affinity for beer, even Czech beer, so the actual "pub" part was wasted on me.
From there, we walked downtown to tour some of the pubs and see several works of art. One that I was most impressed with was The Memorial to the Victims of Communism by Czech sculptor Olbram Zoubek ...
... looking forward to exploring more of it over the next couple of days.
And now for something completely different: I had the TV on to a music channel while I was researching and booking, and while I was doing that the program (which was an odd mix of modern and 80's hits) finished. Since then it's just showing aerial views of LA and New York City, accompanied by some very nice jazz music - perfect for writing to, and reminds me of my time in those two cities!
