Thus we set off, ultimately aiming for the center of town, though naturally detouring a bit whenever I saw something spiky, as I simply cannot resist gothic architecture. Our first stop was the Minnewater Lake and the Gunpowder Tower. For a first view of the city and introduction to its charms, one could hardly ask for better.

After a quick swing through the Impressionist wing, we managed to be part of the last group of people let into a temporary Van Gogh exhibit, which had an impressive collection of his work pulled from collections throughout the world, including four self portraits. ... ended up going in the wrong direction. So off, switch to the other side and we finally made it back! After a short rest, out to see Brussels in the dark! ... were visiting the chocolate shop where praline was invented, and taking a bar tour of some of the craft beer bars in Belgium. The tour was great. We started with a bar where we heard the history of Trappist beers.
