It's difficult to believe that our week on the barge has flown by so quickly. Today is our last chance to bike with what has been a very cohesive and friendly group. There are three biking options today. The short route will be from Aalterburg to Brugge and cover 15 miles. The second route which is the long option of 28 miles will begin at Lovendegem and end in Bruges. Finally, the longest option which is 38 miles goes from Lovendegem to Damme to Bruges. The border crossing from France into Belgium was a non-event - with the newly created Schengen zone which includes most of Europe, it seems that the border posts have been done away with. All we got was: "Belgium 800 metres" and then several signs after that giving you the speed limits for Belgium and then a sign "Belgium" and we were suddenly no longer in France!
