... 3 hours to get to Salzburg, Austria. We were picked up by bus from the train station and taken to the city for a walking tour. Salzburg is the birthplace of Mozart and the city has a great feel to it. It dates back to 696 and has the usual fortresses and cathedrals. As mentioned Doug and I very much enjoyed this visit. The city is also famous for the Sound of Music location and filming of which the story is loosely based on the real Von ...

... it was hot and humid enough outside already. We then stopped for a small lunch at the restaurant located near the entrance to the zoo. Yes, there is a zoo in these gardens and an extensive one at that. We saw everything from Rhinos, Penguins, Jaguars, Polar Bears to Cheetas and many many more. ... he was selling. We knew that the performance would not be what we would see in the Opera House, but what we got was even less than we expected. The sales guy we bought from made it sound like a real theatre with seats in three different sections. When we walked into the "theatre", which resembled a hotel conference room, we were underwhelmed. Our seats were supposed to be in the second section, but there is only one section of mobile chairs placed in front of a tiny stage. We were in ...

... into the City and a visit to the State Opera House - unfortunately, the inside was closed due to refurbishment. further travel to the Museum district with distinctive and historic buildings. We found another area at the back of Stephansplatz Cathedral which contained - guess what - another cathedral !! this time it is a Jesuit church (not sure what the difference is) but if anything, this one was better appointed than its bigger and more popular brother.
