A day in Berlin

A travel blog entry by bels_adventure on Oct 06, 2014

Our free day in Berlin began nice and early (of course after I'd had a late night, which I tend to often do for some ridiculous reason). A few of us did the optional activity of the third reich walking tour with a phd student in history. It was a great 3 hours spent, and added to my knowledge of it already. It was amazing walking through the main landmarks of Berlin and having her ...

... and spend a couple of hours walking the last part of the C2C into Robin Hood's Bay. I think if we had tried to go on, The Badger wouldn't have made it and I have my doubts about Red aka Two Dogs also. If judging the city on the way they organise tourism they would fail to get many rubber chickens from ...

... emotions to myself. After tearing up and crying in this room, the third room filled with stories of numerous Jewish families was a bit too much to take in. We listened to the audio of just a couple people's last days before we decided it was too much and needed to leave. I thought to myself as we walked out of this powerful memorial about how if it is this difficult to read about the stories and feelings people had, it's impossible to even begin to imagine what it must have been ...

Day 30 (Hamburg/Berlin)

A travel blog entry by marcohj on Jun 08, 2014

... me, promptly fell asleep. When I wasn't sleeping I listened to this album that reminded me of something really sad and read my book and stared at the beautiful German countryside. We got to Berlin in three and a half hours, which passed very quickly because we all slept a lot of the journey. As we drove into Berlin we began to understand how big the city was; the main streets are enormous and everything is spread out. It was a Sunday so everything was shut and dead, which ...
