... it was definitely an intense atmosphere in the bar. Tourist or not, most people in the bar were cheering for Germany and when the Germans scored late, the place erupted. As soon as the match ended, "We are the Champions" blasted in the bar and the party started. We left shortly after to take a subway back to Alexanderplatz (the city centre of Berlin) to see what was going on there. By the time we got off the subway, the streets were flooded with people. ...

Getting out of East Berlin was incredibly difficult, lots of people attempted escape and paid with their lives. ... and Spain. It was a nice afternoon. As the sky began to darken and the temperature dropped, we decided it was time to go home. Marc had to be at his brothers house by 6pm anyway. ... that make any sense to a tourist. We knew that we had to take three different trains to reach our destination. We made it to the first stop alright but then we had no idea where to go. The train times did not match up with our rail planner app and the signs that the trains had over them did not have final destinations... they just had a major stop along the way.
