35 kms AM - A nice sunny ride out of Kelheim this morning along the north side of the Danube, no sign of rain! A lot of cycling is along the top of levee banks on firm gravel. Quite a lot of cyclists heading east as well, went past a "yacht haven" on the river at Kapfelberg. PM - Had our lunch (made at breakfast) at Matting while watching a cruise …

I am going to do this day in two parts so I can put pins in the map along the way. We were planning on getting up early, so Bob was awakened with me saying "what time did you set the alarm?" He woke up and said 5:30. I thought it was 6:10 but it was really 4:45. I couldn't go back to sleep so I headed to the bathroom to write about the day before. Bob couldn't go back either, so we got up and started the packing and showering. ...

Last night we left the Main River behind and entered the Main-Danube Canal. The Canal is 171km in length with 16 locks. We arrive on our floating luxury hotel in Nuremberg at 8am. Nuremberg is the 2nd largest city in the German State of Bavaria with a population of 500000 inhabitants. Our coach tour leaves at 8.30am. We visit WW11 sites including The Reich Party rally grounds where Adolf Hitler held his annual Nazi Party rallies up until 1938 ...

CRUISING DAY - Regensburg  The day began with a relaxing morning cruising on the Danube through several locks to Regensburg, located directly on the Danube in Bavaria in the SE of Germany.  We participated in a Fruhshoppen - a Bavarian sausage and bier morning tea (see photo) on board today followed only an hour later by a Bavarian lunch of more sausages, cold meats, sauerkraut and salad. As we ...

... and Austrian markets were similar. The Gluwein was a little different tasting, not quite as sweet.

The weather was the same from Innsbruck on. No sun, which has been ******* us prairie people. The sky is grey, not really any rain but just a dull sky and between +2 and +6 but most importantly for driving on the Autobahns, NO SNOW.

We were really glad we had made the stop.
