After fiddling with luggage packing, we set off from the hotel just after 10am on a cold, overcast day (yesterday was cold but sunny). It took us more that an hour to mostly push our bikes along the path near the Elbe (because of the poor, cobbled surface) to Willi Brandt strasse, and then another hour to thread our way through the suburbs (stopping at a McDonalds for a coffe to try and warm up). Yes, they safely got from point A to point B, but there was a bit of a fight and I'm sure they were talking about how mean I am in German. Haha. Luckily, once we were actually home and through the door, they were both perfect little angles again and extremely polite. ...

    Fischmarkt at the Harbour

A travel blog entry by a_payne on Mar 22, 2015

So, I got to go to the fischmarkt (fish market) today! This is extremely famous in Hamburg and I'm really happy I got to go on the first weekend I was here. Jutta left town Saturday, so it was just Rüdiger, the kids and I. Since the market opens up so early, we had to get up at 5:30 and left a little after 6. It was already packed by the time we got there, but it was really awesome (and cold!). Of course there is a lot of fish sold there, but there were also ...
