Luxembourg Baby....

Wow what a family adventure. The 6 of us cousins packed our bags and headed to Stansted for a great adventure across Europe. From the huge slices of birthday on the plane to the bumpiest landing ever Hols and I were feeling more than little sick. An exciting 2 hour journey on a coach reminding one of school trips with the back seats. Arriving at 2am it was an advernture making our way to our shared dorm. 6 people in one room for the first time in 8 years. Ear ...

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope everyone is having a great time eating turkey and watching football back home :). I'm in a country where we aren't subjected to the awful sport of football fortunately. Unfortunately they don't typically celebrate Thanksgiving either. Luckily I am reasonably close to one of my best friends from the states and we were able to celebrate turkey day in typical American fashion. This morning I travelled for 4 hours by train to ...

Our Day in the Country

... heard some Luxemburgish music and I liked it. Conrad worked on the computer to map our route for tomorrow while Karyn and I chatted. Spoogy sat in her lap for a bit and then made his way to mine. He is a very sweet dog! We all went to bed at 11 pm. I stayed up for an hour more to upload pictures while making a tent with my blanket. I hid under it because it was warmer that way! I drifted off to sleep at midnight.

City in the trees

Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.

He was always smiling. He was one of those people that radiated happiness so that everyone around him had to join in the joy. If they didnt and decided to treat him badly, he wouldnt notice anyway. Ignorance is Bliss. He spoke very little english but eventually ...

From here we drove to Luxembourg and to it's Capital, Luxembourg. We didn't know where exactly where we were going just following the road. After we past the border we stopped at a major gas station to get some drinks and had lunch at Pizza Hut Express. Once we came into town we followed the road signs for the City Central. the language in Luxembourg is French. We saw the Grand Duchy palace and walked around the area. It's St Patrick's Day on ...

A deluxembourg birthday

... way back in the 10th century, but apparently more than 23km of other tunnels still honeycomb the area - 17km of which are still accessible in various states of repair. There are even man made chambers down there big enough to host mini concerts and plays, so all in all a place packed with history and integral to the World Heritage site that ...

December 4 I got it rough to wake up and left my bags in a locker to after go walking and look at the royal wedding ceremony that was going on in town between the Belgian prince Philip and Mathilde. I spent the rest of the day in a book store, to come back to get my bags after and call home. I finally took the train to Luxembourg. The train ride was long but I finally made it to ...

Country and City of Banks

Our family travelled to Luxembourg for a week for a work conference. Was it just me or was there a bank on every corner? I think the trip was quite expensive for my parents.
Assuming it was because there are so many languages spoken in ...
