On our way to Cologne. We were warned about pickpockets when we arrived in Amsterdam and to watch our bags by the Tour Director. Drama began before we left. Having boarded the coach,Tour Director approached by a man who had a leather wallet of keys and showed him where he found them other side of bus. Nobody on bus claimed the keys and they were left at hotel reception desk. Just after coach left hotel Tour Director discovered his bag was missing ...

... in circles trying to get me back on but we were having no joy so we had to take a bit of a detour. Not exactly what we wanted on such a long drive. Again we got back on track and there was just time enough for one more missed turning before we eventually made it to the campsite at about 4.30 so it had been a long day. Another new habit I noticed is to wish everyone a nice day. This is fine in America, where you go shopping once in a while and the cashier sends you off with a smile and "Have a nice day!" -in a pleasant voice ending on a higher note. Now, here, where you shop multiple times a day, this gets really annoying. "Prettige dag verder", uttered without enthusiasm, in a robotic voice, just because the boss instructed you to say it to every body ...

Berlin, Munich and Bad Bentheim

... no one with you is strange and made me quite sad. Nevertheless I arrived in Bad Bentheim after seven hours into open arms which made me feel a lot better. This past week doesn't need to be explained as not much has been going on. I've had a few down days where I've been quite upset for a few different reasons but I've also had a few days where we've gone bike riding or have played tennis and I've been back to my normal self. I can't wait to get back on the road again though, Italy awaits ...
