... coffee and wander before going back to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon we went to Barr for a wine tasting, then onto the very touristy Obernai , both towns in France in the Alsace. Wines were not that remarkable. 2nd August- As a change, we jumped on bicycles to cycle around a vineyard and fruit growing area out from Breisach. Covered about 20ks of very easy cycling. Left Cergy for Strasbourg. Stopped at Compeigne to see the train lines where the Armistace was signed. Arrived in Strasbourg late afternoon. Our room overlooked the canal. The starters were escargot and braun (cold pork bits pressed into cubes). For main I had stuffed piglet with potatoes and horse ...

Nothing about the restaurant, inside or out looked like it had been through a flood a ...

... together on the very top of a pole, looking like they were checking out the real estate, clattering their beaks at us. They are large birds!

We finally located Eurovélo 15 and Route du Rhin signs and were on our way. Almost immediately after crossing a bridge, we were back in the countryside with horses in the fields and then into a beautiful forest preserve, the Fôret de Robertsau, almost 500 hectares of ...

We got an early afternoon train from Dijon to Strasbourg with one change at Mulhouse where we had been before. As I mentioned before, you are required to have a reservation for bikes (that are not bagged or boxed) on the TGV trains. You just get them on to the train car with the bike symbol on the side. We were witness to the consequence of NOT having a bike reservation as there was a young guy who brought his bike on board with ...
