... in France, which was very impressive. The wealth of the Catholic Church is unbelievable. There were lots of lovely riverside restaurants and cafes , with plenty of people enjoying a drink in the late afternoon. Unfortunately on visiting the station to get our train tickets to the start of our bike adventure on the west coast, we had our first set back. To arrive in Saint Nazaire, it was going to take us nearly all day, as we had to first go to Paris, ride from Paris ...

Kerry is slowly getting used to driving on ...

Our next stop was The Cobbers Memorial. There is a statue of one soldier carrying another with the words "Don't forget me cobber". We also visited VC Corner Cemetery which only holds Aussies, 410, all unknown with no headstones. A memorial to the missing. We then visited Pheasant's Wood Cemetery. ...

... bush fires a couple of years ago - the money was to be used to build a new school! But what a waste of life! so many young men from so many parts of the globe were slaughtered. It physically hurt to see the numbers - more Australian soldiers died in 3 months of the Somme Offensive than died in the 9 months at Gallipoli. But the one that hurt so much was to see that out of 800 men from Newfoundland only 64 were there for roll call the next day! Australians overall suffered ...
