Hello all! There isn't much to tell of this week, I have been sick so no school pour moi. Just the flu, thankfully nothing serious - it's not surprising though as everyone is sick in this weather. The temperature has been very very cold. The maximum is about 5 every day,sometimes 3-4. The minimum -2 to 3. At the moment the sun is out (the first time I have seen it) and it looks like a normal Australian day from inside...until you go outside and it's 3 degrees.

When we arrived in Saumur, on the bank of the Loire River we had planned to visit the Office de Tourism to find accomodation, and hopefuly something self-catering, but the office was closed. We later found out it was bank holiday. However, thay provide such good services that there was an interactive screen so we could look up some hotels. During ww2 this chateau helped people escape from the nazi's as one side of it was in occupied France & the other side was in free France. So those escaping entered the chateaux & walked through the gallery onto the other side of the river & were in free France. ...

... and be off to our dinner reservation. Total distance travelled was 45km. The hotel we stayed at was called Hotel Biencourt, it used to be a school for boys and girls during the Napoleon era. The boys and girls classrooms were separated by a courtyard, we stayed in the girls section. Dinner tonight was another 4 course feast, I do not know how we will be able to eat common North American food again :)
