... town and you had to enter and leave through the narrow gates.
After that were a few days of bastides (fortified towns), fortressess, medieval villages, gardens and the odd chateau.
At Castelnaud, the castle had displays of armoury, furniture and the medieval weapons such as trebuchets, predrero and manganel. The view from the top was again spectacular up and down the Dordogne Valley. It is so hard to imagine the difficulties of their construction ...

After a couple of Leffe Ruby beers and a steak we walked back to the hotel. I couldn't manage the blog, I was exhausted, so decided I would do it today instead.

I am sure other than a couple of people in the HOG, this is just disappearing into the www and not being read, but I am enjoying writing it....so will continue on

... Sarlat. Easier said than done - got lost a couple of times, even with GPS. One missed turn & we were out of town & up into the highlands on a one way road.
