... Collonges-la-Rouge, the 'rouge village', and as the name says, it's red, as the stones used in the buildings are a red colour. It was another fine and sunny day, walking through the small, winding streets, looking at the shops selling local specialties such as foie gras, mustard, and artisan knives.
We joined others in a busy restaurant for lunch, where we had confit de canard (duck) and potatoes, with a glass of wine, and it was a delicious meal.

Aubusson (don't you love predictive spelling -"ambush on")... Treas had her heart set on visiting Aubusson although she hadn't really owned-up - just subtly kept navigating us that direction. It is/was, as all you cultural gurus would know of course, the heart of France's tapestry industry and has been for centuries. I knew you'd be aware of that.... ... on the menu..... The poor guy tried to explain, and indicated his stomach, and then we managed to get the word "pork" as well, so it was decided that it was pork-belly.... Now, I actually love baked pork-belly - delicious! But, well....ummm....It's not quite pork-belly...in fact....NO! When it arrived, I thought it was a pork filet.... ... can't be charged without the engine running..... All, in all, not a very satisfactory situation as far as I'm concerned, but, Treas wanted to be close to the "action"..... Sorry.... I wasn't sure if the world had stopped, or there had been a nuclear holocaust, but I don't think a single soul stirred the whole evening....It was spooky...! ... wonderful chocolate & biscuit shop with very friendly staff & some very tasty nougat. The countryside was a lush green, with apricot & apple trees, corn & tobacco growing.
