... roads..... So, we meandered through lots of tiny little French villages which are all very similar - totally and utterly deserted - no sign of life at all, with a few parked cars, but no people, no lights, no open doors or windows, nary even a neon/fluoro sign to suggest that there may be living beings within.... Despite the tiny, narrow roads, apart from being scared-half-off-the-road by an escaping farmer appearing around a blind corner in his tractor with some giant bit ...

... wonderful chocolate & biscuit shop with very friendly staff & some very tasty nougat. The countryside was a lush green, with apricot & apple trees, corn & tobacco growing. In the afternoon we toured the Lascaux II site, a reproduction of the 17,000yr old prehistoric cave paintings, the bulls & deer in the drawings appear to be moving, our local guide was enthusiastic & informative. We finished our day with ...

So.....heading north again, we aimed for Brive and just east of Brive. More fabulous countryside in the Massif Central. Why? For more cycling and climbing. Did a bit of both and some more cultural stuff. Aubazine is lovely and representative of the area. Great big lesson for the whole excursion - use the tourist info places. They're helpful and have lots of mappy info, which helps understand what's in the area. ...
