Day 30 Bremen, Germany

A travel blog entry by ronandsusie2013 on Aug 12, 2015

Had breakfast at 8 am with Horst before he went to work at his Hansatouristik office in Contrescarpe Strasse. We walked the 3 km into the Hauptbahnhof to hire bicycles for the day and complete the River cycle tour. However we only had our drivers licenses with us and they would hire out bikes without siting our passports. Instead we decided to partly complete the 17km Bremen Innerstadt Runde bike tour on foot. We walked points 1-8 on the tour map covering Stadtmitte, ...

Our vacation starts

Getting up at 3:00 am is not nice, but the highway to the airport was empty. Checking in with Air Berlin was a new experience, but not quite positively. All information that we had keyed in for the online check in was irrelevant, we had to give them the complete information again. Pushing it

In the morning I realise, again, that a couple of trees can provide enough camouflage so that most people won't see you but dogs will know. I wake to a loud, barking dog at my tent. No problem, I'm ready for a long day of walking. I'm hoping to make it to Buchholz in der Nordheide which is quite a walk. ... are to big and not really good quality. I've found a supermarket that sells campingaz but they don't sell cookers. I decide to go to the library, go on Internet in search of an outdoor shop. I can actually use the Internet computer for free, for one hour! Go Buxtehude! The closest outdoor shop, not in Hamburg, is in Lüneburg. Bummer, this is quite a bit out. I head back to the supermarket and ...

It's dry as I wake up. I break up camp quite early and start heading for Harsefeld which is on the route I'm taking to Buxtehude. I feel very energetic today. It's about 20 kilometre to Harsefeld and I've got more than enough energy to go on to Buxtehude. There's a problem though; the pain in my right heel is so bad that I'm actually thinking about taking the train to Buxtehude. Can you imagine? ...
