... is a city deep in gray scale - the mist off the lake mutes most of the buildings to white or dull stone colors, and I have yet to see a local wearing anything but black. Even the other study abroad students seem to all be wearing black, while I am very warm but not particularly sleek or urban in my turquoise coat and cargo ski pants.

Packing, packing and flying

... bought for the entire week on the slopes!! They were happy and pretty awesome on the flight and through the airports. We arrived late and took the shuttle over the border to France and stayed at the Novotel. Dinner was late and we didn't get the kids to bed until midnight. They were so amazed by the tiny patches of snow when we arrived, it made them very excited, so after dinner it took a little while to calm them down.

... now passing the time in pubs and restaurants in BSM. We ended up having lunch at L'Arssiban, our absolute favourite BSM restaurant, which is a little way out of town, but worth walking to, as we did many times with Margaret & Paul, Ann & Klaus and Helen & John...we celebrated our wedding anniversary there and also valentines day, so it was a delight to go there one last time.

... with good grace. It was too late to go anywhere for dinner so we ate the leftover bread (there's still half regular loaf left), cheese and the rest of the humus along with apples,chips and licorice so we were more than satisfied. We read and watched TV (my there is some explicit stuff on regular French television) and than went to sleep watching the french moonbeams coming through the open window and listening to the sounds of Annecy going to bed.
