Friday we packed the car again and drove a few hours up to the Burgundy region, famous for its wines, beef bourguinon, coq au vin, and anything else delicious that can be drown in butter (including more snails). 3rd August- Our Rhine cruise over we were dropped at the train station in Basel. Turned out to be the wrong station, so it was a scramble onto a bus to find the other station. ... brûlée for desert. Our first really great French meal this trip. Waddled home after lunch and wine tasting, had a rest and then went out to take photos. Beaune is a beautiful little city, and there were buskers everywhere playing French music, so a really nice time to wander. ... incredibly old, colourful buildings. The whole town was decorated for Christmas and we stopped in the Boulangarie (bakery) for hot chocolates to warm us up.

We then stopped in Colmar for lunch, which also had Christmas markets. We bought some fresh pasta to cook for dinner with a bottle of homemade tomato sauce and a pesto. It was delicious.
