... some pain, the first pain aux raisins of the tour and some tea. It was so hot on the terrace, such a contrast from our previous descent.

We reached our stop for the night, La Maison de Joséphine, by about 1:30pm. Unfortunately it was a 10 minute climb up from Guillestre, one which we repeated sans panniers when we went to search for a restaurant. The terrace outside of the room gave me lots of space to fiddle with the bike. I gave it a good clean and replaced both sets of ...

We decided on a strategy of frequent stops to drink and snack. ...

... rain above. The 10km climb up to about 2000m rewarded us with the most stunning views of snow crowned peaks pushing into the clouds, Charolaise cattle with bells tinkling, sweeping valley vista an old stone spire church and clusters of multi hued lupins to top it off.

Thinking the day couldn't get better, we pushed on to this town of Vizille and spotted a chateau on the hill complete with a blue neon Hotel sign. With some trepidation, we drove up a ...

... at 8.30 am. A quick visit to the Tourist information office and we set off on a quite valley walk along the bloated almost overflowing river. That's all we can mange today! 3 hrs later having seen a deer head on, numerous wild flowers and stood in a meadow eating our lunch (no logs or seats) we return in the nic of time before we are forced to hibernate in Elvis for another night while the storms rage up above. A great little ...
