Will write this up as time permits but the highlight for me today was the visit to a little village called Apremont which is very proud of being beautiful and rightly so 20village.html

Before that we went to the city of Nevers.

... budget of York Minister! Pretty decrepit in places. A shame really as it will start to be too dangerous to be in soon.

Off we went again. All in all, 55 kms.

... Van Gogh copied/interpreted many of Millet's works as he created his masterpieces years later. At one point, there were 150 farmers in Barbizon and 150 painters. So, we visited Millet's gallery, maintained as it was when he painted. That done, we headed south for a 46 mile (74 km) ride to Montargis. Unfortunately, the wind had not abated much. ... barns, charolais cattle, donkeys, alpachas (!) and ancient cottages. The wounded bike made it back and we felt pretty good on arrival.

The evening consisted of a wonderful meal, petanque and Dave and I walking to the village in the dusk (note LOOK UP THE CHURCH FOR INFO. St Etienne something??? Huge and imposing, norman??)

Dinner was a salmon and cheese mousse, bass with green salad, new potatoes, green beans and butter sauce, cherry custard ...
