    The striking part of that is, as ever, we wonder how any assistant in Newcastle would be able to react if someone came in speaking French?
    All very pleasant and we returned on the train for tea in Obernai.

    We are now definitely on the final part of the trip with our German visits and the imminent return to the UK which Liz is keen on, myself, less so.

    ... a district of France for shopping prices, lets start a petition NOW!
    Obernai is an attractive town, it seems that, being close to the border, there is a strong German influence and the market places reminded us of Butzbach but the drinks prices in the cafe we chose were very out of step so they won't be getting our custom again.
    It was pasta bake for tea, made by (wait for it) the Homepride Flour Grader with a little help from me. ...

    ... so French-y, and I liked looking at the pastries in particular. There's this part of the city that's called Petite-France, originally slaughter houses & tanning-houses.     ... meal with a German family, ANNYA RIEDER, and her daughter SELINE, A 18 year old. They showed us their three bedroom flat, over 100 years old, and they had a wonderful dinner prepared for us of sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, bratwurst and meatballs and salad. This was very enjoyable to experience a German family and how they live. We left about 9 pm for the boat.

    ... Anniversary gifts from Yvonne and Chuck, as the wait staff brought out a Black Forest cake for our table. Returning to our room, we found a bottle of Champaign two glasses and a card.
    we then went to a lounge to listen to French musical group, where we also danced a bit.


    Mom on is great and enjoying this all.
