31st July- We awoke to find ourselves in the town of Mainz, where the Rhine and Main Rivers meet. Highlight of the walking tour was the Gutenberg Museum where the development of the printing press was explained. Also how the terms "upper" and "lower" case originated. After a bit of shopping and a coffee we were back on the ship. That afternoon we were bussed to Heidelberg as the boats cannot get through the weir. Walked around town ...

Left Cergy for Strasbourg. Stopped at Compeigne to see the train lines where the Armistace was signed. Arrived in Strasbourg late afternoon. Our room overlooked the canal. The starters were escargot and braun (cold pork bits pressed into cubes). For main I had stuffed piglet with potatoes and horse ...

So after a lovely petit déjeuner (possibly my favorite meal) in solitary ...

We got an early afternoon train from Dijon to Strasbourg with one change at Mulhouse where we had been before. As I mentioned before, you are required to have a reservation for bikes (that are not bagged or boxed) on the TGV trains. You just get them on to the train car with the bike symbol on the side. We were witness to the consequence of NOT having a bike reservation as there was a young guy who brought his bike on board with ...

... broke the front landing gear.... Sitting on the plane for 2 hours- finally getting off and staying in the airport until 23:15 for another plane. I met a couple few Americans about the boys ages and chatted, making the wait go quicker. Hahns is a very small airport.... No bars, no TV to watch Germany and Argentina play for World Cup ...FIFA . Catching glimpses of the game on small TV and Phones. Got into Dublin at ...
