      ... we set off in pursuit of a petrol station. That filled in about 30 minutes, but at last we found ourselves back at the Avis office and survived the drop-off, which by now involved a queue. Luckily one person in the queue spoke French and English and translated the few bits my meager French couldn’t handle.
