... short, the damn route got us lost and we ended up doing another massive detour. At rixheim, we eventually turned around to try to find any kind of river to camp on. Rivers are nice. We didnt find the rhine, but ended up staying on the banks of a kittle canal which was super pretty and a fair distance from any dodgy dog walkers!
dinner, consisting of more garlic tha pasta, followed by wine and bed was pretty much exactly what the doctor ...

        Not right.
From laufenburg onwards... for the next 3 hours to be precise, we didnt find a single open restaurant. Not one. Absokutely hopeless. Eventually, we asked locals, and through a detour of rougly 10km we finally found food. Pizzaaaaa!!!

head for the night. The concierge suggested a restaurant, called Cafe

reviews. It was only a short walk from the hotel, and we got there and
it seemed closed. There was scaffolding and such outside and it looked
closed. We went inside anyway, climbed some stairs, and sure enough it
was a fully functional restaurant. Part of ...

... then you would love this place.....Marg??? We thought of you! The rest of the day was spend wandering and sleeping. The boys arrived home, raving about their experience so it was worth the stopover for them. I'm sorry for all the car photos but I'm sure there are some people who might like them!! Dinner again at the Turkish place across the road. Early night and we head into Germany tomorrow.......past or maybe through the Black Forest. Will plot our course as we ...

... hit the Rhine for our final leg to Basel. Early evening, we negotiated the first of four locks along this stretch of the river. This lock was built into a dam wall, the water being used as a hydropower system. This lock was quite impressively high, but we were told there are higher locks on the Danube. Due to the high water and low entry point to this covered lock, everything on the top deck was flattened and even the Captains Bridge had to be ...
