    Lost in Lucerne

Well, what can I say about Lucerne? The town is almost like modern meets old
world. It is based around the Reuss River and from any direction in the town,
you can see the Alps. In a word, Lucerne is gorgeous.
To be honest, I didn't do a great deal in the three hours I spent in
    Lucerne apart from ...

Unfortunately our half closed tour of europe continued and the "golden round trip" was not available because the gondola was being repaired/upgraded. Typical. The only good thing that came out of this was that I saw snow for the first time! (hooray!)

... care the soldiers were given at the time was the basis for the Red Cross movement and the Geneva Convention Edouard Castres witnessed the Franco - Prussian war as a volunteer with the red cross..his sketches and pictures portray the fate of the soldiers in Feb 1871. An entrepreneur commissioned Castres, with a team of painters, to paint the large scale panorama in Geneva..and it has hung in Lucerne since 1889. Then we walked about 2kms up and ...

... get right up to it, no security, which was surprising. We then made our way to Switzerland. We headed towards Zurich, stopping for a while on the lake front. We then stayed at another little lake near there. Pretty cruisy day really.
