There is a holiday in Germany this weekend, so all the stores will be closed. That is okay...we are here to relax (and do some laundry).

Germany has been hit with a heat wave. It was 35 degrees Celsius two days straight. We basically sat around out back talking and working on my special projects. The men are chatting about this and that. We have such a nice time here. You really feel like you are at home ...

... because we arrived on a Friday) very busy, we had the choice of 3 pitches, 2 you couldn't swing a cat in and the other tucked away in a corner that you could, had we had a larger camper / car & caravan we wouldn't have squeezed in I doubt but we did and were staying for
2 nights.

... including a bee garden and huge ponds. There were a lake with a huge stage in the middle, with rows and rows of benches; apparently in Summer there is a Lichterfest (light festival) where everything is decorated with candles and there are fireworks, and we very much hope we can see this! We had lots of fun testing all the activities for kids - a cool wheel that moo's and baa's like animals, and a strange bridge like a trampoline that made our legs turn to jelly! ...

... modern archetecture that you saw randomly placed all over. Conrad dropped us off on his way to running some errands and we had a good 3 hour walk, with wonderful views of Recklinghausen and the surrounding area. At the end we had what would become a typical snack on this trip - 'Coffee und kuchen' every 2 hours. This is probably the first place we saw dogs in a restaurant.
