    More rain, then sun !!!!

During the night, we had heavy rain, with intervals of torrential rain. All in all quite a night, we had an early start today and were gone by 9am.
The " which road to take decision " was easy today and as we had already decided that Dijon in the rain was not a good idea, we would press on towards Lyon and took the E15 toll road. To say the road was wet, would have been an under statement and the spray was horrendous. The inside lane was full of lorries ...

Visited Vienne today, a Roman town, one of Gaul's largest settlements. It became a Roman Colony in 47 BC under Julius Caesar. There were many Roman remains which are constantly being discovered in this city of about 30,000 residents. We visited the remains of a Roman road for chariots with our guide Camille, the Temple ...

The first thing one notices is the soil. Very ...

Not a good nights sleep as Peter was tossing around thinking about the broken phone and the expense of the new one. Anyway when he looked online there is a way of turning the phone off without using the top button, also Apple have been sued in the U.S. (Unsuccessfully) for the button getting stuck as a design fault although they have admitted its a problem. So after the best breakfast so far (will look for Ibis again) set off on our bikes back to the mall and get ...

... came from many years of difficulty.
But, before now, I had never been truly immersed in the language. In Paris, I
met many people who spoke English, but in the countryside, English is very
rare. (As a side note, I would like to add that the guidebook claims that many
pilgrim refuges are English friendly. Well, if they mean that the host can say “Hello”
and “Thank you”, they are correct, but I haven’t met a single proprietor ...
