... and mopped up the juices like a true champion.

Thought I would crash soon after that, but have ended up relaxing and uploading photos and looking through the footage. It was an extremely hectic day, and I would not do it again like this – Way too busy and tiring, but the views and landscapes were just too good to miss. I would love to return one day and stay locally for a few days taking time to walk and paddle the canyon ...

The eastern side of Provence is "the Luberon," where my ancestors came from......they left in a big hurry in 1688 when the Edict of Nantes was revoked which meant that the Protestants were again being persecuted and one Jacques Malan left his home in St Martin de la Brasque, near to La Motte D'Aigue and the Huguenot centre of Mèrindol and made his way to the Cape of Good Hope where he was given a piece of land to begin farming in the ...

What a joy to feel and smell endless lavender and sunflowers side by side - miles and miles of them!

After a bit of "babyfoot" in a village and watched locals play petanque by a castle, we headed back to Esparron for dinner and a relaxing evening in the castle.

We left the coast of Cote d'Azur behind for the mountains on Haute Provence today, driving via Grasse first, and visited the Perfume museum of Fragonard, learning the production process of perfumes. It's worth a visit if you haven't been before - and the guided tour is free.

... the winners from our contest to stay with us in Aix. As avid blog readers they placed entries in the system...and when they were selected all they had to do was pay their own airfares, accomodation and train conections....our presence is no charge to them.

So tomorrow we have Rick / Beth and Mark / Wendy arriving...if the French trrain strike does not intervene.
