2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

Nice

... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city I´d love to visit once a year minimum.....

Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!

More when I start travelling...

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

... of Prince Albert - no joke), then walked along the harbour. The harbour had a full fairground atmosphere with rides, games, food, lights etc. We had the most delicious kebab for dinner from a stall :-) So posh!

We then followed the curve of the harbour to gape at the boats moored there. The amount of money people obviously have is just obscene!

Next we thought maybe we would have a go at trying to win ...

Day Spas, 4 Stars (but no celebs) and Pebbley Bums

... French Riviera is all that its cracked up to be, absolutely gorgeous views, the water was so blue and clear, and relatively warm in comparison to Melb beaches, and had it been a few degrees warmer, we probably would have dared a swim. Ah well. There's always Barcelona! But seriously Nice is absolutely lovely, and apparently 17 and overcast here translates as not a cloud in the bluest sky we've ever seen, with sun shining.... life's tough aye...

With the lovely weather (in comparison ...

Diesel and Steam Train

Leave from nice on the Chemins de fer de Province (diesel train) to Touet-sur-Var. And then the steam train to Entrevaux, city with amazing views. On the way back a quick stop in Puget-Théniers.

My camera battery died once we hit Entrevaux so no photos :(

Van Gogh and Don't Stop

... a Van Gogh cultural center and it was interesting to see his cramped quarters and the views he pondered through the bars in the windows on the second floor. As we left we noticed a Van Gogh print depicting the inside of his room we had just visited. We both were struck with the same visual - Van Gogh's bed was identical to the two we had both slept in at the Mas du Petit Grava. The similarity was unmistakable. Jim really loves his Van Gogh.

Money Money Money in Monaco

Well, after driving around Monaco for at least an hour trying to find somewhere to park little Winnie up, we eventually found the only car park in Monaco it seems that will allow campers or motorhomes! This was located in the newer part of Monaco called Fontveille & once we found a sign with a motorhome on it, we were led in the right direction thankfully! It was ridiculous, as after ...

Nice is nice

... went back into Veux Nice for a lovely dinner. We ate way too much food because we all ordered the set menu which was 4 courses. After dinner we went back to Checkpoint Nice and had a night on the town. Since it was a Friday night the club was full with people our age and not singing drinking songs. We stayed for a nice long while chatting and drinking pints of great Bavarian beer. We eventually went back to the hostel and went to bed. The train strike was over, time to flee the country!

... speedos outstretched on the rock ledge and every couple of steps sighing with happiness the entire way. We reached Monaco- the tiny principality around 2pm and were instantly amazed with the immaculate high rises and gardens. It was like we had suddenly stepped into "tidy country"- everything and everybody seemed to be perfect! I had always wanted to visit this French speaking country boarding France and Italy and sitting on the Mediterranean. It ...
