I have now arrived in the land known for CHEESE (my favourite food group). Yesterday I had an 8 hour train ride, with 3 stop overs, kind of intense but at least the view was incredible! ... not the height of the tourist season. Lined up against the dunes were blue and white sheds which people rented to keep their beach things. There were plenty of people actively tanning. We had a bit of a paddle before returning to the nearest bus stop. Bit of a wait then back to the ferry. The bus ride was a great way to see the countryside on the island. ...
... was a lovely old home with a great apartment for us to stay in. We arrived about 8 so it was a quick unpack and then off to bed. Oh and ... yes we saw a lighthouse. But it is a replica.
The lighthouse was originally built in 1887 and demolished in 1968. This 1993 replica was built for a film and now stands on the pier.
Amazing how cheeky sparrows are. The cleaned up the plate on the table next to us. And they had a go at Mama's cream. I think they would have taken crumbs from our fingers, they were that tame. ...
