... much nicer accommodation than the rooms that we had in Paris. The grounds have 350 camping sites and 150 cabins on site so are quite big. In the hight of summer they have approx 2000 people here at once. There is a restaurant, 2 bars, 3 tennis courts, a basketball court, a swimming pool, kids programmes, the river and lots more activities. We went for a walk ...

... 3 'models' in wedding dresses, one of whom decided to run into the Lac for photographic effect....the screams as the water hit certain parts of her anatomy could be heard across the waters for some distance; how she home in a sodden wedding dress is any ones guess...perhaps she drove back in a another suit all together!

As the camp site had only just opened for the season, it was very quiet.

... but we arrived back in Balen mid afternoon and went to the local pub for dinner...called De WaterKant ...its right on the canal and has a thatched roof and is quite nice. We had a chicken stir fry and frites .....way too much food. Then back to the house to pack. made sandwiches and fruit for the road tomorrow. Klaas built a nice fire before ...

Well we were up early and off for a drive.....first to Hasselt to the Jenever Museum which was very interesting ...... Lots of info about the distillation process and old advertising and the different kinds available.....even had a lemon kind at the end of the tour. We explored the old streets in the old town.....then went for coffee and Begium Waffles..Then we drove via Namur and Dinant along the Maas to a small hotel called Cap du Verte which is south towards ...

... have it downstairs, that doesn't seem to be the case. Perched at the top of the stairs is the "best" reception, with difficulties downloading photos or anything other than basic email.

There is a real log fire in the lounge, and the landlord promises to clean it out daily and restart it for us late afternoon. Definitely a plus. Know how much work goes into maintaining one of those.
