Today I emailed with a friend in Jakarta. I hope she can help me finding our pembantu (Indonesian for Maid) Sammie. It would be nice if we could meet with her again. Today was a long drive (by Dutch standards anyway). We drove to Lelystad to see the replica of the VOC ship, Batavia. The replica took 10 years to build, and visited Australia in 2000 for the Olympic Games.

Also at the ship yard, they have another ship under construction, so it was very interesting to see how these ships were made. Interestingly, the original Batavia only took 9 months to ...
