... by the river.. We make it to another Gasthof where the umbrellas are being set up. We stop for a phenomenal spread of sliced meats and cheese and watch the boats go back and forth. We took a small detour / excursion off the river trail to Eferding... Not sure why :) haha. It was scorching hot and we got lightly roasted but it was beautiful riding through Austrian farmland.. Past paddocks of horses and a lot of cabbage crops. There were also many worker groups ...

... was utterly breathtaking, it is reputed to have the largest church organ in the nonUSA world. Curiously the length of the church has a slight curve. Sort of disconcerting.

From their we wandered around the old town stopping for the famous Linz torte and a well known cafe. We had coffee and cake which was delicious, but ...

... the Machland River plain to the valley of the Strudengau River. Our destination is the city of Grein, located at the foot of a remarkable 15th century castle on the riverbank, our approach along the bike path was pretty as a postcard. Our accommodations changed for tonight and we are staying at a cute little Pension, located near the main square just a block back from the river. Heidi and Herbie are parked safely in the ...

High of 17 today, low of 4. Beautiful sunny day! We approached the bike trail at 9:30 am this morning, birds singing, swans swimming on the slow moving river and water falls along the way, very peaceful. We travelled mostly on the south bank today, stopping in Aschach for a coffee break and pastry along the Donau. After about 43 km we crossed the river at Ottensheim where we stopped ...
