We left Sauvignone soon after 09:00 and took the autostrade to Turin and then onwards to Briancon. We stopped at Momtgenevre where relatively fresh snow had been swept for the road into piles on the car park. This was hard to believe as it was actually 20c with brilliant sunshine when we were there! The views of the Alps with snow covered tops, ...

Today we wake in the second largest city in France to find another sunny day though a slight chill for our 08.15 start to tour the city. He was once in charge of the security at the port and now he oversees many different operations. Unfortunately, he's didn't speak any English at all so our guides had to translate for us, which proved not to be an easy task. He showed us a large 3-D map version of the port while inside their "visitor center" and then we got to drive around to see ...

... t get to see much. Was very interesting going through one of the many locks, & watching through the window as we dropped lower & lower (about 13 metres) & surrounded by concrete walls either side, fascinating. (Have included a few photos) Macon - Thursday 25th The next morning we visited Cluny & what remains of the Abbey Cluny 111 that was built from 910. We left at 9am & returned at 12.30pm. After the French Revolution the Abbey was secularised & sold to ...
