The ship arrived in Lyon after lunch; we boarded a bus and toured around with a stop at one of the last family-owned silk scarf manufacturers. That was really impressive, and I don't even go for silk scarves! They use ~20-40 'screens' per design, they mix the paint with arabic gum so it's thick enough to stick to the silk but still thin enough to spread. They staple the silk to the workbench, which is long enough for, um, 6-8 scarves to be ...

... bring more than their fair share of bridges and what conjures up the romantic image of France better than a bridge? ... he was sneaky and deceptive and only told me he wanted money once I'd already arrived and it was too late to make other plans. And to be fair, I was leaning towards that too. I couldn't imagine how I could possibly be worth that much, and it also felt like such a dog thing to do to your friend. So really, I felt like he had been a real bully. But at the same time, it made me feel bad about myself knowing that he wanted me to pay, and agreeing that I would. Anyway, I was tempted to ...

... work, he bombards me with messages constantly. I know he hasn't done anything violent but it's still quite aggressive behaviour. I think the police should at least know about it even if they can't do anything about it. At least then I'd feel safer too. I don't know. Anyway, that's most of the negative stuff out of the way. I still don't like French people, which is becoming the norm, but there are enough ex-pats around to make this place bearable. But one thing that has ...
