Yes I'm alive-here are some updates!

Well, it's been a lonnngggg while.....here is a rundown of what I've been doing since London-

Took a weekend trip to visit girlfriends in Dublin. I love Ireland! Had a great time with my friends and their friends.

Flew from London to Berlin, stayed one night then went to Dresden to meet with my Great Grandmother's Niece's Granddaughter (got that?!?!?!). She was so good to me! Stayed with her in Dresden then went to Zwickau to stay with family and see some places where ...

Passau city tour

... We did a walking tour through winding narrow cobblestone streets and alleys looking at old buildings and shops. We went into the cathedral and learned much about the stonework, frescoes and the organ. Then outside again for more walking around learning about the architecture of the buildings.

Then it was back to the cathedral for an organ concert. The organ has 275 stops and almost 18,000 pipes placed in five areas, including the ceiling. Very ...

22nd Day: Rückkehr nach Hause

St Stephan's and the largest cathedral pipe organ

... which was on the other side of the river and then came back over a bridge further down the line back into Germany.  The scenery was something else and so peaceful.  When we got back into Germany there was a picnic area and a long table all set up with meat, pretzels, gherkins and drinks for everybody.  Lois got off her bike but her legs were like jelly so landed on her knees poor thing but all I could do was laugh.  This was not a time for praying.  We ...

Tomorrow Austria... tonight fortress YHA

... Sofia to Istanbul looks the most likely; a very rough calculation suggests I might be able to ride all the way in time but these estimates tend to be optimistic. On the original plan I might have been rolling into Istanbul about now! There is a youth brass band staying here at the castle; I'm typing to the sounds of Blue Danube, Love me do and other tracks. In the setting, under a blue sky, with a Weizer in hand its pretty much perfect. Its a shame to leave Germany but Austria beckons.

Linz/Salzburg/Passau

... you solve a problem like Maria"; Just lovely of course. I think I am running out of adjectives to describe these gorgeous places. The shop windows had the traditional dress on display, but so expensive, a complete outfit can cost up to 1000 euros., Then onto Salzburg, very very old, the site was used in roman times but re-established in 696; there are over 100 hundred ...

Day17 Regensbourg to Passau

... up nicely for the last bit coming into Passau (which is another lovely medieval town). Staying in a 16 century building which has huge thick walls and is also freezing cold so I have gone for a walk and turned heating on full. Vey cheap place, all in for the reasonable sum of 35E including breakfast. Oh, in addition to inumerable rocky gorges enticing ruined castles and dull looking churches, I passed a great place called ...

Passau by train

I took the train over to Nuremberg where it continued to RAIN as I found my way out to Furth to stay the night with Bertram & Mariella at their "La Galleria" restaurant, where I had a very relaxing evening and a slow morning the next day before cycling back to the centre of Nuremberg to get the train to Passau on the Danube. The previous ...

Arrive in Passua, Germany

My father came over to visit me and go on a weeklong bike trip which followed the Danube River all the way from Passau, Germany to Vienna, Austria. The bike trip was such a great idea because it allowed you to really see the country side, interact with the locals and get a good exercise in everyday. Passua, Germany was a great place to start the journey because of it old ...
