Sunshine! We hit the road, headed for Chambery, Aix Le Bains the back up to La Feclaz via Le Revard. The ride finished with a tough 25km climb! View from Le Revard was beautiful, overlooking Aix Le Bains and the lake. Lots of people up there! The late arvo was spent reading and relaxing. Chicken salad for dinner, rumikub then bed. A beautiful day ...

A rainy old day! We spent the day playing uno, rumikub and planning our onward route. The rain cleared around 4pm so we headed for a 3hr hike to Croix Du Nivolet. Stunning! And perfectly timed with the clouds. Pasta for dinner - it's bitterly cold! Almost need a hot water bottle! Then we treated ourselves to a Nutella crepe in town as we'd only spent €1 so far ...

... gap. Good enough to run the fridge and cook when we stop overnight! We drove to Allevant, wandered around the town at siesta time then headed to La Fevlaz, a little ski village. Lots of great maps and cycling routes from the tourist office. Stopped the night in an Aire. Looking forward to ...

Back on the bikes! 60km from Allemont up to a little town called Villard Reymond. The village way tiny. On the way we had to ride through 3 pitch black tunnels the longest which was 370m. There was one little old French lady with a cafe overlooking the mountains, so we stopped for some apricot tart and raspberry mousse. She was the loveliest lady! Back ...

    Rest day at Allemont

A travel blog entry by eyork on Jul 29, 2015

We left our beloved botchy field, filled up with petrol and drove around the corner to Allemont. We hunted again for gas, or some way to make it work, but no luck. Again. Not very happy! Not only with the gas, but also troubles with the fridge and 12V powerpoints. Baguette for lunch, set up the van with electricity and went for a walk. Cold and rainy this afternoon, but still able to wander through the town of Allemont. A nice quiet rest day ...
