This morning we did the Rick Steves walking tour of Colmar. It is such a charming place. There is a fantastic and huge market place with fresh meats, fish, cheeses, sweets, and other "produits de Alsace". We enjoyed it. Then we decided to take the car to a couple more nearby villages, Eguisheim and Turckheim. Eguisheim was recently voted one of "the most beautiful villages in France". It was certainly charming! Round outer walls and an inner wall as well. All of the lanes ...

I selected three different, and Eldon selected three different than I chose. They served the cheese with either nut bread or fruit bread. They then brought us each 6 different tastes of fun little one bit desserts. We then had an ice cream beer served on, what I thought was jello, but jello like I've never had it ...

Still cool, but with sunny intervals. Decided to stay an
extra night here, to explore the local area.

Spent the morning housekeeping. Afternoon ride into
nearby, lakeside town of Gérardmer. Very pleasant forested, countryside around
here, with pretty chalet type houses. Lots of walks and cycle rides, with
    skiing in the winter ...

... CZ, and others. We all feel ready to return home now. For me, it feels like the trip has served it's purpose. The family are good! The girls are an impressive pack of 3, Cece is certainly one of them now - no longer a baby, they are a 3. It's been really nice making up for lost time with her, she's fab - Scarlett has matured and is sensible and responsible - great qualities to have, and Gen has matured too, more independent than ever now, ...
