... beams on the ceilings. It also had aircon, which meant we slept comfortably. Spent the afternoon walking around the walls and streets. It's a really pretty village and well worth a stop. Spent the day driving through the Alsace wine route. Lots of little towns, all with old castles and half timbered houses. Kaysersberg was a good example, just on the edge of the Vosges Mountains. Around this area their are also a lot of war memorials and cemeteries from both world wars. Around here are the remnants of the Maginot line, a line of underground forts and huge gun turrets ...

... and headed back to our accommodation. Tomorrow we will look at the town more and drive around the area a bit. One thing this town is famous for also, is its white storks. They breed here, and there are huge nests on the top of many of the highest buildings. At the moment the chicks are quite big, so easy to see. Today started quite quickly as we were leaving early and we also wanted to see the local Dom. So as it opened at 6.30 we were there soon after. As a result we were the only people in the church ( besides the cleaner). Then we heard this rumbling sounds. It was an early mass and the nuns and monks were down below having early mass.
