Our hotel is quite lovely and the room is large. It reminds me of the hotels you see in old movies – I'm waiting for Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot to appear in the corridor! The staircase is so grand, the lift is quite new and the atmosphere from the 1950’s ...
A Quiet Day in the Village
... had been hit by lightning. The fireman was standing in the cavity where the roof tiles once were. The whole area was black with scorch marks. Luckily we made it to the cathedral to take refuge!
We finished off our tour of the medieval wall and towers, then wandered around the mall area.
Had a quiet dinner then another early night as we have a big day planned ...
From the city to the country
... they really need to expand their language and speak more fluent English But all in all, we got by and managed to order wine, beer, food and anything else that we need. Ian did a wonderful job trying to order a bottle of dry white wine. I have never seen anyone use charades and be so animated!! I will do my best re-enactment when I get home – it just makes me giggle every time I think about it and will cause me no end of amusement in years to ...
