... correct price here), or perhaps they're just nicer. Whilst Udupi does cater to tourists, this is for Indian pilgrims who come to the krishna temple, and we only saw two other westerners the whole time we were there. Despite this, people hardly batted an eyelid when we walked past. We did try wandering around after lunch, but the heat was too intense so we sat in a cafe drinking juice and eating ice creams. After an afternoon of just eating, we went back to the hotel and visited the ...
Udupi, India sim_armitt... is intriguing, but I think because Udupi is a place of pilgrimage for many, these holy men (they would call them 'business holy men' in Varanasi) take advantage of the devouts beliefs. Good job we are not devout anything then! Tonight we get the train to Kochi, our first sleeper train for a while, and the first we will have to find on our own, which could be fun, but we cannot wait to get to Kerala. Gods own country they call it, lets see.
Udupi, Karnataka, India pmitchell1981... and refurbished sparkling new, with muted elegance of modern ceiling, ethnic drapes and a very elegant glass& tiles W.C surrounded by private patio and gardens they seem as attractive place to spend time in along with the other attractions of the resort. While the club house is going through its own metamorphosis and will soon be a full fledged spa with ayurvedic and naturopathy applications the resort is ...

Mangalore, India mayli... trying to force us into their scent shops at every twist and turn - and old men bushing past us, hispering promises of fine Kashmiri weed - creepy! We escaped the hassle for a few hours and explored Mysore palace, which could have been ancient, but was in fact rebuilt by a British architect at the end of the 19th century. Bloody British. It was beautiful, in a garishly excessive way. Reminded me a lot of Brighton Pavilions (EF people will emphasise!) - a crush of turquoise ...
Mangalore, India franglitter... into a clean floor to do your "thing?" NOTE: DO NOT PUT PAPER INTO THE TOILET. If you must use paper, you should throw it into the trash can in the bathroom. It clogs the plumbing, and takes ages to go down. This is also true for Western style toilets, and the same goes for embarassing feminine products, cigarettes, or anything else. Put only what comes out of you into the toilet, nothing more. Wash your left hand, though if you have done it right, you should have it clean ...
Still in Palolem, India bloomer... to wine dine and charm a lonely woman is part of the game when the return could well be many thousands of dollars, pounds, or euros. . . I do believe the scam is much more nuanced than that, but one should always beware of strangers bearing gifts. . Things are not always what they seem. . . Don't let all of this put you off of India, though, Indians, at least the Goans, are a wonderful people who enjoy a good laugh and are generally honest. The restaurants will even let you leave ...
Palolem Beach, India bloomer... home as he openly stated, "then you can go to america and talk to your friends, and then raise some money for us".....so this useless piece of **** wanted to use me to raise some more money for his pet project while i was offering some free volunteer medical service...the corruption here is disgusting....obviously at a fully functioning center such as that, my services are not neccessary, and i can say this first hand because the next day i visited the site and found that there ...
Mangalore, India sumeeth1... bottles of vodka. The next day we take a bus to Agumbe. It is a small village. But Namit and his friend have been here before and know that it is a nice hiking place. It was raining cats and dogs. We try to hire a local guide to do some treks in the forests but they resist: too rainy, too many leeches! But we are prepared for that! 2 kg of salt is in our backpacks and we know an easy way to a small waterfall. I put my camera in a plastic bag and cover myself in my ...
Agumbe, India crazynothing... never complain about the price of cashews again. Of course, I doubt very much that the workers were paid much at all. On the way back to Mangalore, Mukul pointed out different trees, jack fruit, cashews, fish tail palms. He is very knowledgeable. Dinner on board tonight was Fillipino night, the waiters were dressed in that style, many are Fillipino and the food was also Fillipino. I had only vegetables for dinner, then I ...
