... up the village from the lake. To get anywhere in the village means using the village tracks - translation goat track (if you are lucky). These tracks I are rough - cobblestones or bare earth, and tend to be very steep with lots of steps. We decided to walk up to the piazza and other shops then go to see the castle. From the Tre. Rose it is a set of steps up. Not too bad. Then you reach one of the minor car roads of the village that lead up and ...

We drove to Bellagio and then took the ferry to Varrena with the intention of eating lunch then travelling on to Piona to see an abbey. Just opposite the parking station was the Villa Monastera which has a beautiful botanic garden. We decided to look around the garden. They were lovely with an amazing array of plants from all over the world and the unexpected bonus was that the Villa was open for viewing. In the literature that Roger had seen the villa was only open for ...

We were met by our host Moione who checked us in, showed us our room, the residence amenities, explained a few sights to see around Lake Como and places to eat. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring this beautiful area which we've heard so much about through the media. Now that we're here, it's as beautiful and inspiring as we envisioned it! ...

Roger headed off early for a ride. We did some washing and hung it on our tiny little line. Having trouble with the internet in the apartment so that is why we re behind with the blog - sorry. Still not fixed so we have been typing it up in the hope we will be able to connect soon. Roger gets back about 10:30 and we have decided that the boys will catch the cable car from Argengo (which is just across the lake from Nesso) up to what we think is a ski village in winter. We trudge along ...

... is just on the other side of the point from Bellagio. We drove down into the village square and discovered that the only parking there is for residents. However just a bit back up the road we were able to get a park and walked down to explore the village. It is very pretty. Only small, but the little lane ways were narrow, cobbled and with lovely houses along the sides. It was originally a fishing village and there are many ...
