    We were awoken at 0620 by the engines as Capitano Tullio eased us away from the dock at Adria. We passed through a lock with a lifting bridge and motored through breakfast to arrive at Bosaro at about 0900. We offloaded the bikes and began to ride.     ... and that it had to be tall enough so that a person riding a horse could easily pass under it. I suppose that the areas between the walkways in those days were possibly open sewers. Anyway it makes getting around the city easy, and I have enjoyed their shelter during a couple of heavy thunderstorms.

    I've been in Italy 4 weeks now. The first few days were busy and jet lagged. First stop Milan Expo which is about sustainable living. I had decided WWOOF (WorldwideWorkersOnOrganicFarms) was the way to language immersion in Italy. Expo was a good introduction. Permaculture is the byword. I read up.
