We woke up after a rough night on the seas. The winds had blown about 35-40 knots the night before so the seas were high. The boat rocked quite a bit and it was a little hard to sleep. The good news was that the winds blew away all the clouds and we had great views when we arrived in Saint Florent Corsica, France.

We enjoyed breakfast in the Colannde, then it was off to explore the island on the Patriamo ...

OMG, what a dismal grey beginning, and even end to this day in Bastia, at Port Toga. The rains deluged us in the early morning hours, and never totally stopped all day long. Every time we tried to emerge from below decks, it was only for a moment, before having to make a hasty retreat to the below deck saloon. For dinner tonight we ventured through the rain, with umbrellas turning inside out, to go to a restaurant that Stephen suggested. He was not with us this time, but with friends, elsewhere. This dinner, unlike Cozy, a couple of nights ago in Vieux Port, was fair to mediocre. Walking back to Milena, we each felt like drowned cats, having ...

... have to make yet another crossing. We are now on the edge of the Ligurian Sea, and have successfully left the Tyrrhenian behind us. As I am learning the Northern tip (Cap Corse) of Corsica has rough seas quite a bit, as you have to round the point, then head due West for Cannes. The winds are almost always from either the WEST or the NORTHEAST. Having winds between 10-35 kph in your nose doing this 120 miles NW crossing is most uncomfortable, and ...

... vital than the other more modern ports, although its touristic and aesthetic charm almost makes the old port the official emblem of the city. In fact, many cafés, bars and restaurants have moved to its docks to which access is granted by the city for pedestrians only during summer evenings. A bit more to the North is located the commercial and ferry port. As a major economic asset of the city, the "port de commerce" is the pulse of the city. It is even more so ...
