... how long it took to make these with such precise detail. They are said to be the best Byzantine mosaics outside of Turkey.
They have been preserved really well and are still shimmering and glittering in all their glory.

... man working at the Ryanair customer service counter to please help us out and check us in with his computer. He was nice enough todo that for us. After that, it was quick easy fly to Venice. We didn't want to stay in Venice so we took a bus from the airport to the train station. We took the train to Bologna. We arrived in Bologna at almost 10pm. ... a magnificent mosaic feature over and around the alter. The mosaics survived the troubled times including WWII but not all the Greek marble remained in place. A number of churches were built in the area and the monks abandoned the Basilica for some time. In this time, the marble was removed/stolen. Marble from some of the other churches was recovered from their ruins and installed in the church.

... using the free WiFi and it was reported to be only 30' with 70% humidity - it was a hell of a lot hotter than that. My Garmin will have the temp so will check that when I'm able to upload - we need WiFi for that.

... a shower. Today's was special due the nature of the shower.

This is one of those topics that just has to be shared. We have what I would call a modular shower. It is a fiberglass shell that has two hinged glass doors. A very comfortable seat has been moulded into one of the sides. There are two shower roses; one on a long hose and the other in the roof of the shower.
