... covered in ash in 79 a.d from Mt Vesuvius. The ash preserved the city and held the bodies of the asphyxiated people.

It is a completely different tour than I thought. We are led past the gladiators training gym, an old theatre, bakery which had loaves of bread found in it, the justice house and see clay casts of people complete with their facial expressions when they died. Ravello sits up the hills above Amalfi, and is a peaceful area with a small population, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean. In 1996 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is just beautiful, with a peaceful piazza, tiny alleyways filled with ...

Maiori, Amalfi Coast, Italy Today we used our three day bus pass to go to Positano and explore some of the towns along the way. The coast road is only wide enough for two buses in some places and corners only have room for one bus to negotiate. The road has a stone wall all the way on the cliff side. It feels very safe on the road. The bus drivers are very skilled. It is a very interesting journey. They ...
