This building, called la Corderie Royale, is where all of the ropes were made for different boats and ships, like Hermione. It is 374 meters long and the longest building in Europe. They had to make ropes close to 200 meters long and this explains the length of the Corderie Royale, because of the way the ropes were traditionally made in the past.
